Traverse the Magazine

We are honored that North Farm has been featured in Traverse Northern Michigan Magazine. The article highlights the beauty of our vineyard and farmhouse, but more importantly, it shares our commitment to sustainability and purposeful farming here in the Leelanau Peninsula. Being included in a publication that celebrates the best of our region is a meaningful recognition, and we are grateful for the opportunity to share our story with a wider audience.

North Farm is a working vineyard and farmhouse retreat on the Leelanau Peninsula. Across 180 acres, we grow Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Riesling while practicing regenerative farming. From vineyards and pastures to wildflower fields and hardwood forests, every acre supports a healthy, sustainable ecosystem and an unforgettable guest experience.

180 Acres of Purpose, Grown Beauty

  • The Vineyard

Our vines produce Auxerrois, Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Noir and more. Each block is farmed with care, supporting biodiversity and crafting wines that reflect the land.

  • Highland Cattle

Our Scottish Highlanders aren’t just beautiful; they regenerate soil, manage cover crops, and play a vital role in North Farm's sustainability.

  • The Pond

Fed by natural springs, our pond provides pasture water while thistles and cattails naturally filter the water, demonstrating how biodiversity supports our sustainable farming practices and wildlife habitats.

  • Our Bees

Partnering with Jelinek Apiary, we host hives that pollinate vineyard cover crops and wildflowers while providing a thriving home for bees.

  • Flowers Everywhere

Lavender fields, wildflower gardens, and “chaos gardening” enrich our soils and feed the ecosystem while adding color and vibrancy to the farm.

  • Our Soil

Healthy vines start with healthy soil. By rotating livestock, planting cover crops, and composting, we transform sandy soil into fertile earth.

The People Behind the Purpose

The Farmhouse, a thoughtfully remodeled 19th-century home, sleeps up to 14 guests. Inside, you’ll find a chef’s kitchen designed for memorable meals, a sunroom dining area that opens to vineyard views, and cozy spaces that make gatherings feel special. Outside, wide porches set the scene for golden-hour sunsets, while the firepit is made for stargazing and late-night storytelling. Perfect for retreats, reunions, or long weekends away.

The Granary, once part of the working farm, has been reimagined into a comfortable home that sleeps up to 8. With warm, modern touches layered into its farmhouse charm, it offers a more intimate retreat surrounded by rolling vines and open skies. It’s ideal for couples, families, or smaller groups looking for a cozy place to connect.

Stay in one for a peaceful escape, or reserve both to bring everyone together, up to 22 guests total, with the comfort of having two unique homes steps apart.
